Shake Off the Rust & Roll Into 2026 | E17 BJJ Weekly Newsletter 29/12/25

Hey team,

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and enjoyed some well-earned time off if you managed to take a break. It’s been really nice seeing people drifting back onto the mats, and now we’re lining things up for 2026, which is shaping up to be a big year for E17 BJJ — more training, more progress, and more good times together as a team.

Let’s ease back in, enjoy the training, and build momentum the right way.

Schedule Note

The gym will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday this week for New Year.

We are open as normal on all other usual training days — details below for clarity.

This Week’s Training

Gi — Monday & Friday - Both sessions will be open drilling and sparring. A great opportunity to revisit techniques you’ve been working on, ask questions, and get quality rounds in without pressure.

No-Gi — Tuesday (with Chris) - An open drilling and sparring session, perfect for finding your rhythm again and working on anything you want to sharpen.

Saturday — Wrestling for BJJ - A wrestling-focused session with Mehmet and Mouncif, aimed at improving entries, movement, and control that transfer directly into your BJJ game.

Judo — Friday - We’ll be recapping what we’ve covered since starting the Judo classes late last year — revisiting key throws, concepts, and fundamentals to reinforce what you’ve learned so far.

Looking Ahead to the New Year

The start of the year is always a great time to reset and refocus. If you’ve got friends or family who’ve ever been curious about trying Jiu Jitsu, this is the perfect moment to bring them along. The mats are welcoming, the vibe is relaxed, and there’s no better way to start the year than learning something new together.

Tip of the Week - “Don’t rush the restart.”

After time off, focus on movement, breathing, and decision-making rather than intensity. Getting back into training smoothly is far more valuable than going all-out on day one. Consistency always wins.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the mats as we close out the year and roll into 2026 together.

— Mouncif
