Big newsletter this week, so get your reading glasses ready.

Growth Update

With all of these additions, we’re now running 19 classes per week, and still growing.

A big thank you to all of you. The energy, consistency and support from the members is what’s made this possible. As always we are committed to re-investing into the club as we gain more members in our community to give you all the best possible experience and access to as many classes as possible.

Grand Opening

Our official Grand Opening is set for:

Saturday 30th May from 12:30pm

We want to make this a big one.

Let’s pack the mats out and celebrate everything we’ve built together. There will be:

  • Food available

  • Filming and photos

  • Great energy all day

  • A proper community atmosphere

Invite your friends, invite your family — we want as many people there as possible.

This is a huge milestone for E17 BJJ, and it’ll be great to celebrate it properly with all of you.

Summer Grading

Saturday 13th June

A chance to celebrate your progress. There’s been a huge amount of improvement across the room since the start of the year, and I’m really looking forward to recognising that with you all.

This Week’s Focus

Gi Fundamentals with Mouncif (Wednesday)

We’ll finish working through collar sleeve control, linking tripod sweeps and triangles, along with a few extra sneaky finishes from there.

Teens with Hugo and Mouncif (Tuesday & Thursday)

We’ll be looking at half guard options, focusing on developing the underhook and understanding how to use it effectively.

No Gi Fundamentals with Hugo (Tuesday & Thursday)

We’ll finish working through shoulder crunch options, then begin looking at ways to escape into butterfly guard, turning defensive positions into offensive opportunities.

Gi Fundamentals with Hugo (Tuesday & Thursday)

Continuing with De La Riva (DLR), exploring options that lead into back takes and transitions into other guards.

Gi Mixed with Christopher Macken (Friday)

This week’s focus will be attacking the dorsal kimura position, building control and understanding how to use it as both a submission and a transitional hub.

Judo with Justin

This week’s focus is the fireman’s carry (Kata Guruma). We’ll work on timing, entry and lifting mechanics, focusing on how to use your legs and positioning to execute the throw efficiently rather than relying on strength.

Wrestling for BJJ with Mehmet

We’ll continue developing hand fighting, linking it into clean leg entries and improving your ability to initiate from standing.

Full Timetable

We also have our Cardio for BJJ class on Sundays now at 11am - expect lots of drills that will help you BJJ become sharper, quicker and also build your engines. This is followed by a 1.5h open mat at 11:30am

You can view the full updated schedule here:https://www.e17bjj.co.uk/e17bjjschedule

More additions coming soon.

Membership Reminder

If you’re interested in upgrading your membership to Premium to train some more classes each week. drop me a message on Instagram or speak to me or Richard in class.

Tip of the Week

Start where you are, not where you want to be.

It’s easy to compare yourself to others or feel like you should be further ahead. Instead, focus on what you can do right now and build from there

.

Progress comes from stacking small improvements over time.

See you on the mats,

-Mouncif
