Hi everyone,
Hope everyone has had a great week!
We had a great weekend with our Parent & Child BJJ Experience, bringing a little bit of the magic of BJJ into some quality family time. It was great seeing parents, children and families getting involved, having a laugh and getting stuck into the training together. Definitely thinking of doing these events more in the futute, so if you are interested, keep an eye out!

We've got a few updates this week, so let's get into it.
The App Is Now Your Home for Training
From this week, there will be no class agenda in the newsletter.
All of the class topics are now being added directly into Lumo, so you can log in and see exactly what each coach is teaching before you book your classes.
If you haven't already, please download/add the app to your phone and start using it to book into your classes and check in when you arrive.
There are also lots of other features coming through the app, including your attendance, training notes and more.
We know changing a habit can be difficult. We've been doing things the old way for a long time too, so we'll be reminding people as they come into the gym and helping everyone get used to the new system.
Please start booking your classes through Lumo from now on.
Ryan Nee Crucifix Seminar
Only 2 weeks to go!
Ryan's Crucifix Seminar is happening on Saturday 5th September, and tickets are available now.
The crucifix is an incredibly dominant position with a huge amount of control and attacking potential. Ryan has been using this system at the highest level, so this is a great opportunity to get a detailed look at how he builds the position and uses it.
If you've been thinking about booking, now is the time to get your ticket.

The children's seminar will be delayed by two weeks and will now take place on Saturday 19th September.
The adult seminar is still going ahead as planned on Saturday 5th September.
Final Week of Summer of Rolls
This is the last week of our Summer of Rolls promotion!
If you've got a friend, training partner or someone you've been trying to convince to start BJJ, get them down this week and let them try it out.
Our Intro Classes with Juan have had a lot of thought and work put into the curriculum to make them a really good introduction to BJJ, and as you all know, Juan is an excellent coach to learn from.
It's a chance to get fit, learn something new, meet some great people and become part of a community.
And if you've got friends who already train elsewhere, don't forget that our Summer of Rolls open mats have been a great opportunity to bring people together from different gyms.
Get them down before the promotion ends!
New Muay Thai Intro & Beginners Classes
From next week, we'll be introducing dedicated Muay Thai Intro / Beginners classes.
Since launching the Muay Thai programme, we've seen the classes getting busier, which is fantastic. We've also noticed that there is naturally a growing difference in experience levels within the room.
The new intro classes will give newer people a chance to find their feet, learn the fundamentals and get more coaching attention without feeling like they're trying to keep up with people who have more experience.
At the same time, this will allow the more experienced members to get more out of their regular sessions.
If you've been thinking about trying Muay Thai but haven't quite taken the plunge yet, this is a great time to start.
E17 x Arvo Sauna
Don't forget about our partnership with Arvo Sauna, just a short walk from the gym.
E17 members get their first sauna completely free, followed by 15% off future bookings.
Use code BJJFREE when booking and remember to show your E17 membership area when you attend.
If you've never tried it, go and check them out. It's a great way to recover after training and relax.
What's Coming Up
5th September - Ryan Nee Crucifix Seminar
12th September - AGC Friendly Competition
19th September - Children's BJJ Seminar
23rd to 28th November - Rip & Roll Morocco, Anza
Tip of the Week
Make Your Training Slightly Harder
You don't always need to make a round harder by going faster or using more strength.
Instead, give yourself a small restriction.
Try starting in a position you normally struggle with. Give your partner the first grip. Start underneath them. Limit yourself to a particular guard or attack.
By making things slightly more difficult, you force yourself to solve problems you might otherwise avoid.
Then, when that situation happens naturally in sparring, you've already spent time working through it.
Don't always make training easier. Sometimes make the problem better.
See you on the mats!
