E17 BJJ Weekly Newsletter | 21/09/26
Hey everyone,
Lots happening at E17 as we head into October. We’ve got new No-Gi intro classes starting next week, our early morning timetable is coming together, and we’re getting closer to making Lumo the home of your E17 membership
New No-Gi Intro Classes
Starting next week, we’re introducing No-Gi Intro classes on Tuesday & Thursday, 18:30–19:30.
Not sure about No-Gi? Feel like it might be like starting all over again? Or maybe you just want to explore the more dynamic side of Jiu Jitsu?
These sessions will take you through fundamental positions and situations, helping you build confidence and upskill whether you’ve trained No-Gi before or you’re completely new to it.
Ryan will be leading the Intro classes, while Hugo continues with the main No-Gi class.
Come give it a go!
Thursday & Tuesday Late Gi
The late Gi sessions on Tuesday & Thursday at 19:45 have picked up a little, but they’re still relatively quiet compared to some of our other sessions. That means plenty of attention from two great coaches, more space to train and a great option if work keeps you late one evening.
If you’ve been meaning to get another session in, give them a try!
Lumo | T-Minus 2 Weeks
We’re almost there!
The vast majority of you are now onboarded with Lumo, so thank you for getting set up.
The next stage is moving your membership payments across, which will make your membership active in Lumo. Your current membership plan and price will stay exactly as they are. This will also make it much easier for us to upgrade or change your membership when you want to, without the clunky system we’ve been working with.
Remember, from 5 October, Lumo will be required for adult students to book classes.
Keep It Clean
A quick hygiene reminder as we get busier on the mats.
Please make sure you:
Shower and arrive clean
Keep your fingernails and toenails clipped
Train in a clean Gi
Give your belt a wash too... your powers aren't stored in it! 😂
We all share the mats, so looking after your own hygiene is part of looking after everyone else.
NEW RASHGUARD | MOONLIGHT 🌙
A new E17 rashguard is on the way!

The Moonlight Rashguard is a slightly different take on our usual design, and after lots of requests for a black rashguard, we’re finally delivering. 🖤
Perfect timing for spooky season too. 👻
Pre-orders are now open in the Lumo app under the “Shop” section.
All sizes available.
Hugo Dvorecky | Armbar Funnel Seminar
A reminder that Hugo’s Armbar Funnel Seminar is coming up on Saturday 3 October.
A chance to dive deeper into Hugo’s approach to building connected armbar attacks and creating opportunities as your opponent defends.
Saturday 3 October | E17 BJJ

7AM BJJ Is Coming
Our new 7AM classes start Monday 12 October.
We’ll kick things off with No-Gi on Monday & Wednesday mornings and there’s more to come. If these sessions go well, we’ll look at adding Friday mornings, followed by Tuesday & Thursday Gi sessions.
We’ll reveal the full details next Monday, so keep your eyes peeled. 👀
Bring a Friend
Know someone who might enjoy BJJ?
Bring them down and let them try one of our Intro classes for Gi, No-Gi or Muay Thai.
Whether they’ve never trained before or they’re just looking for something new, there’s a place for them at E17.
Just like we have grown from day 1, the more members we have, the more classes we can put on and the more value we can deliver to you all in turn as our community grows!
Tip of the Week
Ask one more question.
If something isn’t working in training, don’t just move on.
Ask your coach: “Why?”. Why did they get that position? Why did my escape fail? Why did that grip work? What should I have noticed earlier?
The more you understand what’s happening, the less you rely on simply remembering techniques.
See you on the mats!
