E17 BJJ Weekly Newsletter | 28/09/26
Hey everyone,
A big week at E17 with new classes starting, Hugo’s seminar coming up, new kit in the shop, and plenty more on the horizon.
Lumo | Almost There!
From next week, Monday 5 October, Lumo becomes mandatory for adult students booking classes.
Most of you are now signed up and fully set up, so thank you! If you haven’t finished your registration yet, or you’re having trouble getting it sorted, just grab me or Richard in class or send us a message and we’ll help you get it sorted. Once you’re set up, all your usual membership details and prices stay exactly the same.
We will slowly start migrating people over to the new system through this week, we wll make sure
No-Gi Intro Starts This Week
Our new No-Gi Intro classes start this week, every Tuesday & Thursday, 18:30–19:30.
They’re open to brand new members as well as existing members who want to get their bearings with No-Gi and see how their Gi skills translate without the grips and jacket.
Ryan will be leading these sessions while Hugo continues with the main No-Gi class.
Come give it a go!
👩 Women’s Only BJJ | Starting 10 October
Something we’ve been excited to bring to E17 for a while is finally here!
We’ve got a new coach joining us, Jenny Weeks, who will be taking a Women’s Only BJJ class every Saturday at 13:15, starting 10 October.

If you know someone who’s been waiting for a women’s-only class before giving BJJ a try, invite them down for a free trial with us.
🦾 Hugo Dvorecky | Armbar Funnel Seminar

This Saturday, 3 October! If you haven’t grabbed your ticket yet, make sure you do! Hugo will be taking us through his Armbar Funnel system, and afterwards we’ll have an open mat from around 15:30 so you can get on the mats and try out your new tekkers.

We’ll also have Mutton & Coal outside serving up some seriously good grilled mutton and lamb to keep everyone fuelled throughout the day.
🌙 Moonlight Rashguards

The new Moonlight Rashguards have landed!
A different take on our usual design, with the black colourway everyone has been asking for. Perfect timing for spooky season. 🖤👻
Available now through the Shop section of the Lumo app or directly at the gym.
🥊 New 14oz Boxing Gloves
Our new 14oz boxing gloves are now available too.

If you’re training Muay Thai regularly, having your own pair is well worth it. They’ll fit properly, feel familiar every session and, importantly, you know exactly whose hands have been sweating in them 😂
Available in the gym now.
Yonder | Free Climbing Days

We’ve teamed up with Yonder, a climbing gym and workspace just next to Blackhorse Road tube.
They’ve got a lot of crossover with what we love about BJJ: physical and mental challenges, problem solving and a grip strength! They’re inviting E17 members to come and try bouldering completely free across four open days throughout October.
Your free visit includes:
Free induction + free climbing shoes + free chalk.
You can also check out their gym and workspace while you’re there.
If you fancy giving it a go, book your free session here:

Tip of the Week
Make your training partner better.
Your training isn’t just about what you can get from the person in front of you. Give them good reactions. Let them work. Offer useful resistance. Ask questions. Help them understand something if you can.
The better training partner you become, the better training environment you help create for everyone.
One more thing...
Know someone who’s been thinking about trying BJJ?
Send them our way. We’ve got Gi, No-Gi and Muay Thai intro options, so there’s plenty of ways to get started.
See you on the mats!
